TNT survives game of runs to top Alaska

 RR Pogoy and TNT needed a strong 4th quarter to defeat Alaska on Saturday. Courtesy of the PBA Media BureauMANILA – TNT fought back from a 15-point second-half deficit to beat Alaska, 119-110, in Legazpi City, Albay on Saturday and get closer to the leaders in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

It was game that swung wildly back and forth, with both teams going on huge scoring runs.

Alaska jumped to an early lead, finishing the 1st quarter ahead 36-23, before TNT countered with a 33-21 2nd quarter to close the gap to 57-56 at halftime.

The Aces pulled away again midway through the 3rd, going up by 15, 90-75, on a Jake Pascual basket....

TNT, Alaska want to hit restart button after long break

Tip-off is at 5 p.m. at Ibalong Centrum for Recreation in Legazpi City.

While some clubs had to give up a player or two for the national-team cause, it was TNT which felt the pain the most loaning 3 players to Gilas Pilipinas and consequently losing 2 games in a row without them....

TNT replaces import Donte Greene with Joshua Smith

The KaTropa have parted ways with import Donte Greene, who will be replaced with Joshua Smith  for the team’s final two games in the elimination round.

Sources close to the situation said the 25-year-old Smith will make his debut on Saturday against Alaska in Legazpi City....

Star banks on clutch Paul Lee, returning Ratliffe to put TNT away

Courtesy of PBA ImagesRicardo Ratliffe made a resounding reunion with Star, scoring 19 of his 37 points in a pivotal 2nd quarter, while Paul Lee put the finishing touches with key baskets late, as the Hotshots defeated TNT 107-97 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

Star recovered from a 13-point deficit in the 1st quarter by outscoring TNT 38-24 in the 2nd, courtesy of Ratliffe's strong performance on offense and the Hotshots' defense.

"We base out system on our defense so I told them to settle down and we improve our defense from second quarter hanggang matapos ang game," Star coach Chito Victolero said....

Handout photoMANILA, Philippines – After entering the Philippine sporting landscape by supporting University of the Philippines and Gilas Pilipinas, Chooks-to-Go is looking to make an even greater impact by potentially joining the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Ronald Mascariñas, president and general manager of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., confirmed Wednesday that they are "on the lookout" for a PBA team.

"The shortest route (to the PBA) is to buy an available franchise for sale," he said in a press conference where Chooks-to-Go reiterated its support to the national basketball team....
