Comebacking Ricardo Ratliffe defers Dubai plans to rejoin Star: ‘I love these guys’

Ricardo Ratliffe. PBA Media BureauAfter an electrifying PBA return, Ricardo Ratliffe revealed that he had to defer his plans of playing in Dubai to be able to come back for another tour of duty with the Star Hotshots.

“Kinda because I played here last year. I just want to go to Dubai to see something new, but I love these guys and decided to go on what I knew, the Star Hotshots,” Ratliffe told InterAksyon.

Ratliffe, who replaced Tony Mitchell, scored 37 points and 22 boards in Star’s 107-97 win over TNT in his first game back in the Philippines.

Ratliffe had his first stint with Star last year, helping the team avoid early elimination in last season’s Commissioner’s Cup....

Star’s Aldrech Ramos is adjusting to playing with a mask

Aldrech Ramos of Star. Rey Joble, InterAksyonAfter suffering a nose injury, Aldrech Ramos needs to wear a protective mask to be able to play.

The PBA’s newest Masked Man sustained a dislocated nose bridge after an incidental contact with San Miguel Beer import Charles Rhodes weeks ago.

“Kailangan talaga mayroong suot eh. Yun ang sabi ng doctor,” Ramos told InterAksyon. “Maski nga matamaan lang ito ng bola pwede lumala yung bali kaya kahit na hindi pa ako comfortable kailangan ko suotin.”...

Star banks on clutch Paul Lee, returning Ratliffe to put TNT away

Courtesy of PBA ImagesRicardo Ratliffe made a resounding reunion with Star, scoring 19 of his 37 points in a pivotal 2nd quarter, while Paul Lee put the finishing touches with key baskets late, as the Hotshots defeated TNT 107-97 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

Star recovered from a 13-point deficit in the 1st quarter by outscoring TNT 38-24 in the 2nd, courtesy of Ratliffe's strong performance on offense and the Hotshots' defense.

"We base out system on our defense so I told them to settle down and we improve our defense from second quarter hanggang matapos ang game," Star coach Chito Victolero said....
