Mallari ‘likes’ playing under Guiao

The Road Warriors head coach has a reputation of letting out his temper in a flash, but for Mallari he is perfectly fine playing under a volatile mentor.

“I like it,” said Mallari after NLEX lost to San Miguel 114-108 Friday at Cuneta Astrodome. “First impression, I like it. He gets mad when you don’t take open shots, because this is an equal opportunity offense.”

Mallari started the game for his new coach and finished with 11 points, on 5-of-13 shooting, and seven rebounds....

NLEX looking forward to Governor’s Cup, says Guiao

The Road Warriors languish at the bottom of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup with a disastrous 0-9 card, and with just a couple of games remaining on their schedule, Guiao decided to start preparing for the Governors’ Cup.

“We only have two games left, so we really don’t have a chance to make it to the playoffs, so we’re using the next two months to prepare ourselves, not to be a little better, but to be a lot better,” said Guiao after San Miguel handed them their ninth loss, 114-109. “We have to be a lot better compared to what we’ve accomplished in this conference.”...

San Miguel tops NLEX, as Fajardo returns from Gilas stint

Chris Ross (15 points, 11 assists) and Alex Cabagnot (12 points, 10 assists) each finished with a double-double to help San Miguel raise its record to 6-1 and secure a quarterfinals berth.

Yeng Guiao reveals NLEX tried to trade for Cyrus Baguio, Jericho Cruz

But the trade that would have brought the two guards to NLEX didn’t materialize.

Ronald Mascariñas, president and general manager of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., confirmed Wednesday that they are "on the lookout" for a PBA team.

"The shortest route (to the PBA) is to buy an available franchise for sale," he said in a press conference where Chooks-to-Go reiterated its support to the national basketball team....
