Defensive ace: Pingris guards Tenorio, Caguioa, Aguilar, Slaughter in San Mig Coffee win

In Game Three of the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers’ PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup semifinals against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, he showed just why.

“Ping started out on (LA) Tenorio, then went over to (Mark) Caguioa a little bit, played Japeth (Aguilar) for a while then he ended up playing (Greg) Slaughter,” said Cone.

“It’s such a luxury from a coaching standpoint to have a guy like that. You need to stop that guy? OK we put Ping on him. You need to stop that guy? Oh, we’ll switch him over there. He’s really amazing. He can guard anybody. I’ve never seen anybody who could do that.”

Pingris was the Mixers’ most effective defender on Slaughter, limiting the 7-foot center to just four points in the final period.
