So held to back-to-back draws in Quebec
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So was held to back-to-back draws in the ongoing 2012 Quebec Open Chess Championship in Montreal, Canada.
The 17-year-old split the point with GM Lazaro Bruzon of Cuba in the fourth round then halved the point with International Master (IM) Bryan Smith of the US in the fifth.
The Philippines' top-ranked chess GM improved his output to 4.0 points on three wins and two draws.
So brought down FIDE Master Louie Jiang of Canada and IMs Daniel Naroditsky and Darwin Yang of the US in the first three rounds.
A top prize $4,000 awaits the winners in the invitational tournament.
