MANILA, Philippines – Hall-of-Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach did not give a prediction on the upcoming super bantamweight bout between Nonito Donaire and Guillermo Rigondeaux, saying the fight was a “toss-up.”

“I like both guys,” Roach told Michael Woods of ESPN New York. “It’s a toss-up, 50-50.”

Rigondeaux briefly trained in Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym, and the trainer once told ESPN that the Cuban is “the best counter-puncher I’ve ever seen.”

“He’s one of the greatest talents I’ve ever seen. Probably the greatest talent,” Roach said of Rigondeaux in a June 2012 interview. [http://espn.go.com/espn/print?id=8016473&type=story]

But Roach would not predict a winner in the Rigondeaux-Donaire clash. Instead he said the victor will the man who “lands the most clean punches.”
