Pinoy boxer loses in WBC featherweight bout
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxer Dizon Cag-Ong of Sta. Rosa, Laguna failed to win the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Silver featherweight championship belt after last Sunday in his hometown.
Cag-Ong suffered a seventh-round technical knockout at the hands of the eventual winner, Dai Iwai of Japan.
Sharing the limelight was super flyweight bet Rex Tso of China, who defeated Billy Joe Aquino via a fourth-round TKO.
In other results, super bantamweight boxer Rey Perez won a 10-round unanimous decision victory against Prell Tupas, while flyweight Dino Lelis also tallied a 10-round unanimous decision victory over Ruther del Castillo.
Flyweight prospect Harry Gutana won via third-round knockout versus Salvador Layson, and bantamweight Cris Paulino subdued Menard Zaragosa via an eight-round unanimous decision – By Marlon Bernardino.
