[ Source: Manila Bulletin ] - March 21, 2014

Michael Fareñas (37-4-4, 29 knockouts) of the Philippines and Hector Velazquez (56-20-3, 38 KOs) of Mexico both made the weight for their super featherweight battle today at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The two will be fighting for the WBC ABCO super featherweight title in a 12- round bout.

Fareñas first weighed in at 130.5 pounds but he officially clocked in at the super featherweight limit after dropping his boxer shorts and weighing in again.

Velazquez, on the other hand, struggled to reach the limit as he first weighed in at 135 pounds, which was already in the lightweight division. The Mexican was doubtful at first if he could cut down five pounds but was able to reach the super featherweight limit after spending two hours at the sauna room of the Lancaster Hotel.
