NLEX opens D-League bid
MANILA, Philippines - Inaugural champion NLEX opens its campaign for a second D-League crown as it takes on PC Gilmore today even as Freego Jeans goes for win No. 2 against Boracay Rhum in the Aspirants’ Cup at the Adamson U gym.
But the Road Warriors will play the underdog role in their 2 p.m. encounter with the Wizards with five of their players with the national team competing in this week’s SEA Games in Indonesia.
“I can’t even have a full scrimmage during practice because I’m saving the legs of my players who are practicing with the national team,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez, referring to Ryan Garcia, Eman Monfort, Cliff Hodge, Chris Ellis and Garbo Lanete.
He, however, said their match against PC Gilmore will be a big test for the team.
In the 4 p.m. match, Freego Jeans goes for win No. 2 against Boracay.
