D-League’s 2nd tourney kicks off in October
The second tournament of the PBA Developmental League will feature at least 11 teams when it opens shop on October 20 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Tournament director Butch Maniego said 11 squads have confirmed their participation in the league, which was organized by the PBA last season following the demise of the PBL.
Included in the participating teams are defending champion NLEX Road Warriors of coach Boyet Fernandez and runner-up Cebuana Lhuillier of Luigi Trillo.
NLEX will be bannered anew by San Sebastian standouts Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and Ronald Pascual while Letran’s Kevin Alas will be back for the Gems.
Also returning for the second conference of D-League are RNW Pacific Pipes, Freego Jeans-Adamson, Blackwater Elite-Arellano University, Cobra Energy Drink-University of the East, PC Gilmore, Ani-FCA, and Café France.
Two new teams are debuting in the tournament: Boracay Rhum and Dub Equipment, which will be led by players from the Trinity University of Asia and a pair of San Beda standouts, Jake Pascual and Garvo Lanete.
Teams that saw action in the inaugural tournament but participate in the second tournament are Jr. Powerade, Maynilad, Max! Bond and Pharex.
D-League games will be broadcast on a delayed basis over AKTV on IBC-13 every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
