Collado leads Big Chill to third D-League win
Big Chill completed a rousing comeback late in the game to nip DUB Unlimited, 62-61, Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Jessie Collado delivered the telling blow with a three-point play with 15.3 seconds left in the game scoring on a reverse lay-up after grabbing Raffy Reyes’ three-point miss.
Collado’s basket proved to be the difference maker on the next possession when John Gonzales scored a long shot at the buzzer but he stepped on the three-point line to end the game instead of forcing overtime.
Big Chill won its third outing to join Cebuana Lhuillier and Freego Jeans for the lead despite a lackluster effort.
“Masama ang linaro namin pero good thing na hindi nag-give up ang mga bata. It’s a good test of character for us because we played through it,” said Big Chill coach Arsenio Dysangco.
Marlon Gomez hit one of two free throws for a 57-51 lead for DUB Unlimited with 4:14 left in the game but Big Chill mounted an 8-0 run. Collado hit a three-pointer that pulled the Superchargers in front with 1:56 left in the game followed by a free throw by Jewel Ponferrada, 59-57.
Raymond Aguilar tied the game with a putback with 36.3 seconds left but that was followed by Collado’s three-point play.
It was another disappointing loss for DUB Unlimited. The Wheelers held a six-point lead against RnW Pacific Pipes last Tuesday but failed to keep the lead until the final buzzer.
DUB Unlimited fell to 0-4 as it missed the services of Jeric Teng, who is in Jakarta with the Sinag Pilipinas team in the Southeast Asian Games.
