Aspirants Cup: PC Gilmore rips Blackwater, stretches winning streak to 4
PC Gilmore's huge turnaround extended Thursday after completing an 83-61 rout of Blackwater to stretch its winning streak to four games in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Meralco Gym.
Paolo Taha and Jet Vidal finished with 13 points each as they alternated in leading the charge for the Wizards, who improved to 4-5 to tie Boracay Rum for seventh place in the standings.
PC Gilmore, after a 0-5 start, came storming back to keep its quarterfinals bid alive with one game left to play. The third to sixth place teams will advance to the next round.
"Our chemistry really improved and the players believed that we can make it to the quarterfinals," said Wizards coach Art Dela Cruz.
Taha erupted for 11 points in the first half while Vidal continued his torrid shooting from behind-the-arc hitting three-of-nine in the second half.
Vidal and Marc Cagoco made four striaght three-pointers as the Wizards widened their gap to 51-38 in the third period.
PC Gilmore opened the final canto with an 11-0 blast with Vidal and Kelly Nabong engineering that run to further increase its lead.
Blackwater dropped its fourth straight game for a 3-4 card bur remains at sixth place. — JVP, GMA News
