Guiao not sweating Kiefer's first 'off night' in the PBA

MANILA, Philippines – Kiefer Ravena finally played like a rookie in NLEX's game against the Phoenix Fuel Masters last Sunday, after coming up with superb performances in his first two games as a professional.

With the Phoenix guard pressuring him at every turn, Ravena mustered only eight points on four-of-13 shooting from the field in NLEX's 102-95 loss – their first defeat of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup. He had seven assists, but was also a team-worst minus-26 in the game.

Ravena was clearly disappointed with his performance, but his coach, Yeng Guiao, said the rookie's struggles were not surprising, nor was it a cause for too much concern.

"Not concerned about Kiefer's off night," said Guiao. "He will have off nights. That's natural, normal for a basketball player, especially as a rookie."

"I don't want to put any more pressure on him by putting those kinds of expectations," he added.
