Eric Kelly wants to reclaim his place as Asia's best featherweight

MANILA, Philippines – Eric "The Natural" Kelly remains mired in a slump, but the Filipino MMA veteran still feels that he has something to prove as he tries to re-ignite his career under the ONE Championship banner.

Kelly is reeling from a three-bout skid, but he gets a chance to snap that losing streak when he takes on returning Brazilian standout Rafael "Indio" Nunes.

The two will face off in the undercard of ONE: Global Superheroes at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 26.

Kelly, 35, was once considered one of the best featherweight prospects in the Asian region when he began his career in 2009. He has lost that billing, however, due to a string of defeats that started in January 2016 against Ev Ting. The Kiwi-Malaysian standout submitted the Baguio City native in the third round of their bout.

He tried to bounce back from his loss to Ting by squaring off against former ONE featherweight world champion Narantungalag Jadambaa seven months later, but he yielded to the Mongolian hard-hitter by way of knockout in just 44 seconds.
