Donaire says boos will fire him up vs Ireland's Frampton

Former four-division champion Nonito Donaire Jr. doesn’t mind having to face Irish boxer Carl Frampton in front of a hostile crowd in Belfast.

In a Belfast press event announcing their April 21 featherweight bout, Donaire admitted that he expects to get a lot of boos when he faces one of Ireland’s own at the SSE Arena.

"There's going to be boos but I welcome that," he told the Belfast Telegraph.

"That's what support is about. I just want to say thank you for the boos for inspiring me to fight and for those cheers. I'm just grateful to be here and excited.”

Donaire is grateful that he was actually treated well upon his arrival at his opponent’s turf.

"First moment I got into Belfast, it was definitely cold. One thing that I found amazing was the warm welcome and the amazing people that I've come across… They treated me with love and respect. I was blown away by how kind you guys are. That means a lot,” he said.
