PH investors offered Marquez $100M for 5th Pacquiao fight

For Mexican boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez, there are some things that money simply cannot buy.

Chief among them? The honor and pride that he felt after finally beating his greatest rival, Philippine boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, in their fourth fight held in Las Vegas in December 2012.

It marked the first time in their four-fight saga that a definitive victor emerged after the bout. The first three matches were all decided on the cards. In their fourth encounter, however, Marquez landed a beautiful, vicious punch in the closing seconds of the sixth round that put Pacquiao to sleep.

For Marquez, his victory put an end to his long rivalry with Pacquiao, and over the next few years the Mexican icon repeatedly turned down offers from the Filipino's camp for a fifth fight.

One of these offers, Marquez recently revealed, came from Philippine investors who offered a tidy sum of $100 million for him to fight Pacquiao in the Philippines.

"There was an offer for a fifth fight against Pacquiao in the Philippines for $100 million," Marquez said in an ESPN Deportes interview, as quoted by Boxing Scene.
