David Haye on target for Tony Bellew rematch despite 'war wound'

David Haye maintained he is still on target for his rematch with Tony Bellew in May, as he showed off a scar on his bicep from recent surgery.

The training injury resulted in his rematch with Bellew to be postponed from December to May 5 next year.

Speaking in an Instagram story from Jamaica, Haye said: "I am here doing some rehabilitation for this little scar, my new little war wound."

In addition to showing off the scar, Haye updated his fans on the current state of his rehab, providing assurances that he is well on course to make his May 5 rematch with Bellew.

"I was curling 6kg today. I started off on 1kg, I'm now at 6. It's all going in the right direction, I'm eating healthy, I'm getting plenty of sleep.

"I'm in beautiful surroundings bringing up the energy and May 5. I'm back in the ring but before then it's about getting some relaxation, some quality time with my family."

Haye suffered a shock defeat to Bellew in March this year, when an Achilles tendon injury in the sixth round saw the 'Haymaker' struggle to stay on his feet, before the fight was stopped in the 11th round.
