The NLEX Road Warriors had the most number of Ateneo Blue Eagles on opening night. Curiously, when current NLEX Coach Yeng Guiao was with Red Bull, he too also had a number of former Blue Eagles with Enrico Villanueva, Larry Fonacier, Paolo Bugia and Rich Alvarez. | Philippine Star photo
This is the most the Ateneo program has sent its players to the professional ranks.

Tenorio, Fonacier, Intal and Kramer are the last of Ateneo’s 2002 UAAP champion team following the retirement of Enrico Villanueva following the last Governors’ Cup.

The team that comprised the five-peat from 2008-2012 has a lot of players in the pros with Baclao, Erram, Elorde, Salva, Al-Hussaini, Monfort, Ravena, Tiongson, Chua, Tiu, Pessumal and Golla.

According to current Ateneo team manager Christopher Quimpo who himself was drafted by Talk ‘N Text in 2004, the number of former players in the professional ranks says something about the program in place.
