In final UAAP season, Dennison puts it all together for FEU

MANILA, Philippines – The knock on Ron Dennison, in his first few years in the UAAP, was that he was a defensive-minded player who had a tendency for physical, sometimes even dirty plays.

"Tirador" was the word used at times to describe Dennison – and one he actively worked to shed in his last two seasons with Far Eastern University (FEU).

He was not immediately successful. Dennison was memorably thrown out of a game against University of the Philippines (UP) last season after he was given a disqualifying foul for an alleged punch on Paul Desiderio. The UP guard flopped, Dennison complained, and lamented how game officials were always targeting him.

"Mainit 'yung mga referee sa akin," he said back then, in September 2016. "Sa akin kasi, parang naging background na sa akin 'yun, na tirador."

In his final year with the Tamaraws, however, Dennison finally put everything together. He played clean defense all season, and got the respect of game officials. He nearly tripled his scoring average from last season, showing that he was a lot more than a defensive specialist.
