Despite NCAA finals loss, coach Robinson excited for Lyceum's future

MANILA, Philippines – A historic season ended in tears for the Lyceum of the Philippines University on Thursday, as the Pirates bowed to San Beda College in the NCAA Season 93 Finals.

It was a truly painful loss for the Pirates, who won all 18 of their elimination round games to gain outright passage to the best-of-three championship series.

Once there, however, they found that they could not match the poise and composure displayed by the Red Lions in crunch time. In both Game 1 and Game 2, San Beda simply executed better down the stretch. Robert Bolick hit the shots that knocked out Lyceum -- and the Pirates had no response.

"Obviously, it's painful," Lyceum coach Topex Robinson said after the game. "We will cry over it."

As he did following their 94-87 loss in Game 1, Robinson again took responsibility for their 92-82 setback in Game 2 that put a sorry end to their brilliant season.
