As season ends, FEU's Arvin Tolentino has just one regret

MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University's Arvin Tolentino was admittedly disappointed at how poorly the final possession of regulation went for the Tamaraws in their do-or-die UAAP Final Four game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Wednesday.

FEU still had a chance to win the game after Isaac Go's clutch three-pointer tied the game at 75, as there were still 8.5 seconds left on the clock – plenty of time for the Tamaraws to put up a shot or even draw a foul.

Arvin Tolentino.
"Super confident ako na mananalo kami, especially on that 8.5 seconds," Tolentino would say after the game. "Binigay sa akin ni coach 'yung tira."

Tolentino got the mismatch he wanted, as Ateneo switched the bigger, albeit slower Go on him. He initially tried to back Go down, before deciding to bring the ball back out to try to take Go off the dribble. He had some success: Tolentino drove and got near the paint, only for everything to fall apart.

Somehow, Tolentino lost control of the ball. He dropped it with some two seconds left, and was unable to recover it. Time ran out on FEU in the fourth quarter, with Tolentino not even managing to put up a shot.
