Anthony Tucker notches triple-double as Kung Fu crushes Dreamers

Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club showed no mercy against the visiting Formosa Dreamers, dominating from start to finish to earn an 86-59 victory on Friday night at the Nanhai Gymansium in Nanhai, China.

Anthony Tucker was the man of match as he notched the first triple-double of the young season, posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists.

The sweet-shooting guard carried over his hot streak from their opening game as he lit up the scoreboard with an efficient 7-for-12 shooting clip, including four triples. In his first two games in the ABL, he has already made 11 three-pointers out of just 17 attempts.

Not to be outdone, Justin Howard produced a huge game of 28 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks. Caelan Tiongson chipped in with 16 points.

There was no let up from the home team who led by as much 39 points in the lopsided win. Kung Fu opened the game guns blazing, leading 12-2 after the first four minutes. They would continue their onslaught thanks the hot-shooting of Tucker. The 6-foot-4 guard looked as if he didn’t even break a sweat, shooting one jumper after the other with ease. By halftime, Kung Fu had already established a 51-25 advantage.

In the last two quarters, the lead continued to swell. A jump shot by Tiongson made it 70-31 with less three minutes remaining in the third period. By the final frame, the lead was too big for the Dreamers to mount a comeback.

Lenny Daniel poured in 18 points, while also grabbing 15 rebounds in the losing effort. Despite the crushing defeat, Daniel became the fastest player to reach 1,000 career points in the ABL. The versatile forward only needed 44 games to achieve the feat.

Jaleel Cousins meanwhile had a relatively quiet outing for the Dreamers with 11 points on just 4-for-16 shooting and 13 rebounds.

Kung Fu have now earned their second win of the season after a convincing debut against the Singapore Slingers last weekend. The Dreamers on the other hand are winless in their first two games.

Kung Fu hopes to make it three in a row when they take on the Westports Malaysia Dragons on November 29 for their first road game. The Dreamers try to make it into the win column with their bout against the Saigon Heat on December 9.
