Ginebra overcomes Rice's 44 points to top TNT, take 2-1 series lead

Joe Devance scored 20 points, including a pair of putbacks in the last 2 minutes, as Barangay Ginebra defeated TNT 106-103 in Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals at Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

The homestretch became a show of extra effort, and Ginebra muscled its way toward key loose-ball recoveries to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 series.

Justin Brownlee (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Scottie Thompson (17 points, 12 rebounds) each had a double-double for the defending champions, who can wrap up the series Araneta Coliseum on Sunday. Game will start at 6:30 p.m.

"A really good, high-quality game . . . We played it well tonight, they played their style well tonight that's why it came don't to the last shot," Ginebra coach Tim Cone said.

"That's what happens when you got two good teams like that. No lead is safe against this team."
