Adamson soars high, keeps UE winless

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Adamson University led wire-to-wire en route to a 79-60 demolition of University of the East (UE) for its second straight win of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament on Sunday at the Big Dome.

It was a comprehensive victory for the Falcons, who now have a 3-2 win-loss record to earn a share of fourth place along with University of the Philippines. Adamson has now won back-to-back games, following an 83-76 conquest of National University last week.

Meanwhile, the Red Warriors remain winless at 0-5, with a game against defending champion De La Salle University looming on Wednesday.

"This is the first time in the season that we're above .500," said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren, who is hopeful that the win will boost them ahead of a "brutal week."

"We'll be playing three games, against tough teams. Hopefully, this can help us in our coming games, especially the game against UP," he added. "The last two games will be crucial on our part to end (the first round) above .500."
