Standhardinger leads Fil-foreign applicants in 2017 PBA Draft

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-German standout Christian Standhardinger has submitted his application for the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-7 Standhardinger, who rose to prominence with his impressive stints with Gilas Pilipinas in the Jones Cup, the FIBA Asia Cup, and the Southeast Asian Games, submitted his application via e-mail to PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa early Monday.

Standhardinger, 28, leads a group of other Fil-foreign players that includes former De La Salle University big man Jason Perkins, San Beda College shooting guard Davon Potts, and Fil-Swede Andreas Cahilig.

Perkins, Potts, and Cahilig were all key players of the Cignal Hawkeyes, who completed a golden double in the PBA D-League by winning both the Aspirants' Cup and the Foundation Cup titles.

Completing the pool of this Fil-foreign aspirants are Fil-Americans Robbie Herndon and Julian Sargent, Fil-Israeli Felix Apreku and Fil-Canadian Zachary Nichols.
