San Sebastian torches Letran to earn share of third

MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian College waxed hot from beyond the arc to overwhelm Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 95-64, and boost its stock in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Golden Stags knocked down 16 three-pointers in the game – the most by a team in Season 93 – en route to the massive victory, which earned them a measure of revenge for their 79-75 loss to the Knights in the first round.

With the win, San Sebastian improved to 7-6 and tied idle Jose Rizal University at third place in the league standings. Letran, for its part, dropped to fifth place with a 7-7 slate.

"Hindi namin ine-expect na ganito ka-lopsided 'yung game," admitted San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya.

"Pero ganito talaga ang buhay namin. We live and die with the three-points. Good thing na pumapasok. Hindi naman lahat, but at 42%, mataas 'yan. Bigay natin ang credit sa mga bata, dahil sa practice nila 'yan," he added.
