Malcolm Hill, Ian Sangalang help Star stop 3-game slump

Despite boasting a full roster on Friday night, GlobalPort could do nothing to stop Star from taking a 109-83 win in the PBA Governors’ Cup at Araneta Coliseum.

Malcolm Hill torched the Batang Pier with 32 to go with his 12 rebounds to help the Hotshots break a 3-game slump.

Star, which gave up Allein Maliksi for BamBam Gamalinda and Kyle Pascual, also got 17 points from Ian Sangalang.

The Batang Pier had a more balanced effort with 5 of their players scoring double digits, but Star focused its defense on Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo which paid dividends for the Hotshots.

Pringle, who just came back from the US, was limited to just 5 points while the usually high-scoring Romeo only managed 11.

Another factor that led to Star’s 5th win in 8 games is its improved rebounding.
