Lady Falcons outlast Lady Maroons

MANILA, Philippines -- Adamson University got its payback.

Skipper Jema Galanza and Eli Soyud sparked the Lady Falcons' finishing kick in the fifth set to outlast University of the Philippines, 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9, on Monday in Group B of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Down, 8-9, in the deciding set Galanza and Soyud scored five of Adamson’s closing 7-0 rally to exact revenge on the squad that defeated the Lady Falcons in four sets in the Open Conference a month ago.

“It’s probably our toughest match we’ll play in our bracket I think it’s safe to say that if I could pick a rival it would be them of all the teams in the UAAP. So we needed this win,” said Adamson coach Air Padda. “We needed to start off on a strong note.”

Adamson joined other early Group B winners Arellano University and San Beda College.
