Ex-champ sees Geje Eustaquio as stumbling block to title hopes

Former ONE flyweight champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov wants to contend for the title again.

But he needs to get past Team Lakay’s Geje Eustaquio before getting back against current champion Adriano Moraes of Brazil.

Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov.
“Geje Eustaquio is one of the best competitors in the division and a victory over him will mean a lot. I have one goal, and that is to get back my title. I will take care of anyone who stands in my way,” Akhmetov said of his bout with Eustaquio in the main event of ONE: Total Victory in Jakarta on September 16.

On August 5, Akhmetov suffered his first professional-career loss at the hands of Moraes in a title-unification bout by way of a 5-round unanimous decision.

To get another crack at Moraes, Akhmetov must battle a highly motivated Eustaquio, who is fresh off a split-decision win over Thailand’s Anatpong Bunrad.
