TNT banks on torrid 4th-quarter shooting to rally past Alaska

Roger Pogoy scored 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, and TNT relied on some scorching long-distance shooting to defeat Alaska 107-106 in the PBA Governors' Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

Trailing 90-80 with 8 minutes to go in the fourth, TNT banked on Pogoy's outside sniping to take the lead 102-101 with a 1:38 left in the game, and later on clutch baskets by Ranidel de Ocampo and Jayson Castro to seal TNT's second win in 3 games.

Jayson Castro of TNT.
Michael Craig finished with team-high numbers of 28 points and 19 rebounds, while Castro flirted with a triple-double (23 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds) for TNT, which made its run without Craig, who fouled out at the 5-minute mark of the fourth when his team was down 96-90.

But the KaTropa rode Pogoy's fiery shooting in the quarter, where the rookie 2-guard hit 4 3-pointers. Overall, he was 7 of 8 from downtown to go with 3 blocks.

After being limited to just 38 points in the first half, TNT dumped 33 and 38 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

Overall, TNT shot 14-of-29 3-pointers, while Alaska made just 6 of 26.
