PH football, water polo teams score early victories

The Philippine men’s under-22 team spearheaded the country’s campaign in the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur by blanking Cambodia in men’s football at Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.

Reymart Cubon and Fil-Japanese Kou-Ichi Belgira each scored in the second half for the 2-0 win.

In water polo, the Filipinos also took off with an impressive start by downing Thailand, 9-7, at the National Aquatic Center.

Teodoro Roy Canete scored 6 of the 9 total goals for the Filipinos, as they try to erase the memory of a disappointing 4-loss stint in the Singapore Games two years ago.

Mico Anota, Alamara Mumar and Reynaldo Salonga added 1 goal each to help hold off the Thai squad, the bronze winner in 2015.
