Perpetual Help, eyeing 2nd straight win, faces champ San Beda

MANILA, Philippines – Perpetual Help looks to avenge its heartbreaking Final 4 defeat to reigning champion San Beda, as the Altas host the Lions in NCAA men's basketball at Perpetual Help Gym in Las Piñas on Thursday.

The Altas were one game away from making it to the finals last year as they won their first semifinal game, 87-83, but the Red Lions denied them in the decider, 78-63, to eventually win the crown.

That loss continues to haunt the Altas.

"It was still painful, and we hope we could beat them this time," Perpetual Help coach Jimwell Gican said.

The Altas are hoping to build on their impressive 68-59 win over last season's losing finalists, Arellano, last Tuesday for a 3-4 record.
