New-look Walker hopes third time's the charm as PBA import

MANILA, Philippines – Henry Walker was barely recognizable when he made his debut for the Blackwater Elite in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup on Sunday at the Big Dome.

In his first two stints – with Alaska in 2014 Governors' Cup and NLEX in the 2016 Governors' Cup – Walker sported longer hair and used his wide body to bump smaller defenders inside the post for easy scoring opportunities.

On Sunday, a noticeable slimmer Walker, with closely shaved hair, led the Elite to a much-needed 92-86 victory over the Phoenix Fuel Masters. It was only their first win of the season-ending conference after three straight defeats.

"New cut," a beaming Walker told reporters after their win. "I'm just trying to do something new."

"Something new" seems to be the theme for Walker in his third stint as a PBA import. With Alaska, he flashed an all-around game, but the Aces fell in the semifinals to Rain or Shine. With NLEX last year, he showed off his chops as a scorer, but the Road Warriors bowed out in the quarterfinals.

Now, an older, more mature Walker seems determined to find the success that eluded him in his first two campaigns as a PBA import.
