Lyceum rolls to 5-0 after demolishing CSB

MANILA, Philippines – A slow start did not prevent Lyceum of the Philippines University from eventually rolling to its fifth consecutive victory in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament.

After putting up a relatively paltry 16 points at the end of the first quarter, Lyceum's offense clicked in the second period en route to a massive 98-55 victory over De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Pirates improved to 5-0, extending the best start in school history, and tightening their grip at the top of the standings midway through the first round of the tournament.

Jaycee Marcelino led Lyceum in scoring with 17 points on top of seven rebounds and three assists, while CJ Perez tallied 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in another impressive all-around effort for the Pirates.

"We remembered the time that they beat us last year," said Lyceum coach Topex Robinson, whose squad bowed to the Blazers in their final game of Season 92, 65-61. "They were 1-17, and that's the motivation for us."

Lyceum's 43-point winning margin was the biggest so far in Season 93. The five-game run is also the Pirates' longest winning streak since joining the NCAA in 2011.
