Loss to CSB in Season 92 fuels Lyceum's record rout

MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) avoided the embarrassment that would have come with a winless season when they shocked Lyceum of the Philippines University, 65-61, in their final game of the NCAA Season 92 men's basketball tournament.

A year later, their celebrated achievement came back to haunt them as the Pirates registered a truly dominant victory over the shell-shocked Blazers in Season 93.

Behind an all-around performance from CJ Perez, an efficient scoring afternoon from Jaycee Marcelino, and their suffocating defense, the Pirates clobbered the Blazers, 98-55, to improve to 5-0 in the season.

Afterward, Lyceum coach Topex Robinson made it clear that their humiliating defeat to CSB back in September 2016 was a factor in their huge victory.

"We remembered the time that they beat us last year," said Robinson. "They were 1-17, and (the one) came from us."

"That's the motivation for us," he stressed.
