Letran dedicates tough win over Baste to injured Ambohot

MANILA, Philippines – For Colegio de San Juan de Letran veteran Rey Nambatac, there was simply no way that they were losing to San Sebastian College on Tuesday afternoon.

Not after seeing one of their own exit the game due to a gristly injury in the third quarter.

Nambatac was one of the first Letran players to see how Jeo Ambohot's right wrist twisted at an awkward angle following a hard foul by San Sebastian's JM Calma. Ambohot, calm as a cucumber even as the bones in his wrist clearly looked misaligned, only pointed to his injury, before being eventually helped off the court.

"Nakita ko 'yung kamay niya, nakakapang-lambot eh," said Nambatac, who visibly had to collect himself after seeing his teammate's injury. "Tumakabo agad sa isip ko na, 'paano kami, paano kami?' Kasi, kailangan talaga namin si Ambohot eh."

At that point in the game, the 6-foot-6 Ambohot had already accounted for 11 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, matching his per game averages in the NCAA Season 93 tournament. Letran was clinging to a 37-35 lead with 5:48 to go in the third frame.
