Ladon, Maamo bow out of AIBA World tilt

The Philippines bowed out of the 17th AIBA World Championships after two of its representatives suffered successive losses to their respective opponents.

Rogen Ladon and Daniel Maamo, who were sent to Hamburg, Gemany for the World tilt, failed to get past their counterparts in the light flyweight and flyweight classes, respectively, according to website Spin.

The Rio Olympian Ladon got a bye to the Round of 16 but got upset by Kazakh fighter Zhomart Yerzhan. Ladon got a bronze medal in the 2015 edition of the tournament.

Maamo, on the other hand, initially got past Mahomed Otukile of Botswana.

However, he got outclassed by top seed Yosvany Veitia of Cuba after getting a two-point deduction following low blows in the second round.
