Kobe Paras vows to keep bringing energy for Gilas

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Kobe Paras played all of three minutes and 37 seconds against Thailand in Gilas Pilipinas' first game of the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, but the high-flying forward still drew cheers in his brief time on the court.

Paras was subbed in with 6:38 left in the second quarter, to loud chants of "Kobe, Kobe" from the Filipino fans inside the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

He announced his entry with a huge block, but was subbed out soon after and did not return.

Still, Paras was appreciative of how the Filipinos' responded to him.

"I'm just blessed to have people who support me like that," said Paras. "Sa Jones Cup pa lang, ganyan na, so I expected it."

"It's not as big as the Jones Cup, kaunti lang ang mga tao dito," he added of the venue. "But the support of the Filipinos is amazing. As you saw earlier, packed 'yung gym."
