Jeron leads MVP race in Foundation Cup

MANILA, Philippines – After leading Flying V to a sweep of the elimination round in just their first conference in the PBA D-League, Jeron Teng has firmly established himself as the favorite to win Most Valuable Player honors in the 2017 Foundation Cup.

Teng averaged 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game for the Thunder, while also setting a new D-League record with three triple-doubles in the conference – the most of any player in the brief history of the league.

Jeron Teng (21) is the likely winner of the PBA D-League MVP award. Richard Esguerra, ABS-CBN Sports.
Thanks to Teng's superb play, Flying V won all 10 of its games in the elimination round, becoming only the fourth team to achieve the feat.

The former La Salle standout has downplayed his achievements, however, instead opting to focus on Flying V's campaign.

"Nagkataon lang," Teng said of his triple-doubles. "We're focused on improving ourselves. We know what we're capable of. We have a good organization and the best coaching staff. The players are veterans, so you can expect anybody to step up."

Also contending for the MVP award are Cignal's Raymar Jose and Jason Perkins, who have anchored the post for the No. 2 Hawkeyes.
