Import Walker powers Blackwater to first win at Phoenix's expense

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran import Henry Walker made a huge impact in just his first game for Blackwater, as he led the Elite to an impressive 92-86 victory over the Phoenix Fuel Masters on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

With Walker leading the way, Blackwater held firm in crunch time to fend off the Fuel Masters and claim their first win of the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup after opening their campaign with three consecutive losses.

A former import for Alaska and NLEX, Walker tallied 32 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in 42 minutes of action, while Mike DiGregorio led Blackwater's locals with a career-high 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field.

"After so many games of being on the losing end, finally we were able to get a win. Special thanks to our new import, Mr. Henry Walker," said a delighted Leo Isaac after his team's breakthrough victory.

"Going into the final nine minutes of the fourth quarter, (Walker) was complaining of cramps, but he was challenging the locals to take charge," the coach revealed. "He was shouting at his teammates inside the court to take the shot and play defense."

"He challenged his teammates to be at the top of the situation, especially when he was not at 100%."
