Coach Tai's unexpected absence a blow for Creamline

MANILA, Philippines – The unexpected absence of head coach Tai Bundit had quite an impact on the Creamline Cool Smashers in their do-or-die game against Bali Pure on Wednesday, admitted assistant coach Oliver Almadro.

Needing to beat the Water Defenders in order to advance to the Finals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference, Creamline instead succumbed to untimely errors and poor reception.

Bali Pure took a 25-22, 27-25, 25-23 victory to seize the last Finals spot, where they will take on defending champion Pocari Sweat in a rematch of their title series in the Reinforced Conference.

"It's a disappointing result, because natalo eh," said Almadro, who called the shots for the team on Wednesday night. "Talagang Bali Pure really played well today, and they came here prepared."

Almadro said the Cool Smashers were well-prepared and ready for battle as well, but a development ahead of the game may have rattled his players. Already playing without star spiker Alyssa Valdez, Creamline also lost their head coach just before they played Bali Pure.
