Coach Altamirano bats for Jeron as PBA D-League MVP

MANILA, Philippines – For Flying V coach Eric Altamirano, there is no doubt that Thunder forward Jeron Teng deserves to win Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

Teng signed with Flying V for the Foundation Cup after playing for AMA Online Education in the Aspirants Cup, and promptly led the Thunder to a perfect 10-0 record in the elimination round of the league's second conference.

He averaged a league-leading 23.9 points on top of 6.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, and the former King Archer did all these while still attending to his academic requirements at De La Salle University.

"Of course, I would root for him to win it. 'Yung dedication niya kasi. Mind you, he's studying," Altamirano told reporters on Wednesday in a brief press conference at the Podium in Ortigas. "It's not a joke. It's also a tribute to him, sa dedication niya and sa hard work."

Teng was actually a contender for MVP honors in the Aspirants Cup as well, but fell out of the running because the Titans did not make it to the semifinals.
