Bali Pure stuns Creamline, forces Game 3

MANILA, Philippines – The Bali Pure Water Defenders became the first team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference to defeat the Creamline Cool Smashers, and they did so in the perfect time.

Mired in a must-win situation after losing Game 1 of their best-of-3 semifinals series, the Water Defenders hacked out a heart-stopping 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-13 over Creamline in Game 2 on Sunday evening at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Water Defenders had to earn the win the hard way, as a listless performance in the fourth set allowed Creamline to bring the match to a fifth frame. There, Bali Pure had to fight back from early deficits before finally turning back the Cool Smashers.

It marked Creamline's first loss in the conference after they swept the eliminations, then took Game 1 in five sets, 25-19, 13-25, 28-26, 18-25, 15-7, on Saturday.

Aiko Urdas led the way for Bali Pure with 19 points on 13 attacks, three blocks, and three aces, while Jerrili Malabanan added 15 points, and Grethcel Soltones added 12, all on kills.
