Arellano still struggling to find a combination that works

MANILA, Philippines – One year after making it all the way to the NCAA Finals, the Arellano University Chiefs are groping for consistency in the Season 93 men's basketball tournament.

Impressive victories over Mapua University and Jose Rizal University have been overshadowed by disappointing performances against San Sebastian and Letran; the Chiefs were also on the receiving end of a 34-point beatdown from Lyceum.

Following their 82-75 loss to the Knights on Tuesday, Arellano coach Jerry Codiñera admitted that the Chiefs are still trying to come up with combinations that work for them on both ends of the floor.

"We're looking for a good combination," he explained. "Hindi ko makita, even sa two wins namin."

"Kanina talaga [vs. Letran], hindi kami makahanap. 'Yung combination namin na pangdepensa, nakaka-shoot. 'Yung mga pang-shoot, dumepensa," he added.

Against Letran, Codiñera got another solid game from Kent Salado, as the guard tallied 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Lervin Flores played his best game of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Michael Cañete contributed 12 points, five boards, and three assists.
