Are unbeaten NLEX Road Warriors for real? Guiao still not convinced

MANILA, Philippines – The NLEX Road Warriors impressed once more on Sunday, overhauling a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to sink the Phoenix Road Warriors, 95-91, in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup at the Big Dome.

It was already their fourth win of the conference, matching their total victories from the past two conferences combined. At 4-0, they are also at the top of the league standings.

Yet NLEX coach Yeng Guiao is wary of celebrating what is already a historic start for the Road Warriors. While Sunday's victory over Phoenix is a "nice win," Guiao remains unconvinced that his team is for real.

"We are starting to look like a team," he observed. "We've been winning games in the end game, been able to hold our own and pull through in the crisis situations. That's a good sign for a team that's really just trying to put it together."

"We have four wins," Guiao then added. "But hindi ko pa din alam kung totoo ito, or kunya-kunyarian pa lang."

NLEX's first two wins came against struggling teams in Alaska and Kia, but then they showed their grit in an overtime win over Rain or Shine – Guiao's former squad – and followed it up with the come-from-behind victory over Phoenix.
