TNT still in the process of getting back to championship level

MANILA, Philippines – The TNT KaTropa may have fallen short in their PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals showdown against the San Miguel Beermen, but for coach Nash Racela, the experience was quite an enlightening one.

TNT took Game 1 of the best-of-seven series and wound up pushing the Beermen to six games, but they were completely dominated, 115-91, by SMB in Game 6. They had no answer for SMB's three-point shooting, as the Beermen knocked down 12 triples in the game and shot 51% from the field.

Racela later admitted that the Beermen played "almost a perfect game" last Sunday, which for him is a sign that they were playing a team of great character.

"It's hard to beat a team like San Miguel. Alam mo naman na malakas 'yang team na 'yan," said Racela. "It's actually us who needed to play perfectly. But well, again, that's the character of their team, and that's why they're the champions."

"Kung kailan mo kailangan, that's when they suddenly play well," he added.

For Racela, making it to the Finals is already a great achievement for TNT, which had a massive disadvantage in terms of experience against a veteran-laden San Miguel team.
