Taconing seeks crucial win vs Indon at Elorde’s tonite

MANILA, Philippines - World Boxing Council international light flyweight champion Jonathan Taconing will have his hands full when he faces tough Sylem Serang of Indonesia at 6 p.m. today at the Flash Elorde Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.

Dubbed Boxing Kontra Droga and presented by the Johnny Elorde Management International in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila Premier, the bout will serve as tune-up for Taconing, who is just waiting for a crack anytime at the world crown .

Taconing is currently rated No. 2 in the WBO and No. 3 in the WBC. He was promised by both governing bodies that he would soon be the challenger of  current WBO  champion  Kosei Tanaka and WBC titleholder Ken Shiro, both of Japan.

In the supporting main event, three boxers will fight for eight rounds. They are Diomel Diocos from Negros Occidental vs Jay Ar Diama of Pasay, Abraham Bullagay of Occidental Mindoro vs Ryan Tampus of San Pablo, Laguna and Kenta Ide of Tokyo vs Germaine dela Rosa of Valenzuela City.

Completing the card are Arvin Magramo vs Romeo Tenorio Jr. (6 rds, 109 lb), Arvin Yurong vs Jomar Borbon (6 rds, 126 lb), Bryan Ascano vs Nestor Junio (6 rds, 122 lb) and Aljum Peleciio vs Aaron Lozano (4 rds, 112 lb).
