Racal snaps skid, overwhelms Gamboa Coffee

MANILA, Philippines – Racal Motors overpowered Gamboa Coffee Mix in the second half en route to a 107-60 beatdown in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Trailing 45-47 in the first half, Racal then locked down on defense and held the Coffee Lovers to a paltry three points in the third period – a league-record for fewest points scored in a quarter.

Gamboa scored only 13 points in the entire second half, setting another record for futility.

Racal thus overturned their two-point halftime deficit, posted a 71-50 lead at the end of the third quarter, and cruised to a 47-point win.

"For now, it's a good springboard for us," said Racal coach Jerry Codiñera. "It gives us a lot of positivity, and we'll build on that."

Rian Ayonayon paced Racal with 26 points, seven assists, five steals, and four rebounds to help his side snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 3-3.
