Pinoy Pride 41: Mark Magsayo out to prove he can thrive in spotlight

Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo and Daniel "El General" Diaz of Nicaragua both made the featherweight limit for their 12-round showdown headlining "Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors" set in Mabolo City, Cebu, on Saturday.

Both fighters tipped the scales at 126 pounds during Friday's weigh-in for the international-title bout that will take place at IEC Convention Center.

Mark Magsayo.
It will be Magsayo's first time to fight in a main event, and his coach, Edito “Ala” Villamor, says they've been working hard to mentally prepare Magsayo for his debut.

“Mahalaga rin na hindi ma-pressure iyong mind niya during the fight,” the boxing trainer said. “First time niyang mag-main event, so nandiyan ang pressure, kailangan may patience at dapat focused sa fight para maganda kalabasan sa laban.”

“Lagi naming sinasabihan na this is just another fight, mapa-first bout o last bout, parehas lang dapat ang treatment, kunwari parang undercard,” Villamor added.

Fight analyst Dennis Principe said the Diaz fight will serve as the perfect stage for Magsayo to showcase his ring prowess.
