Pablo drops 30 in Lady Warriors' third straight win

Myla Pablo delivered the clutch points down the stretch in the fifth set as Pocari Sweat remained unscathed in three games to take the solo lead in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

The Lady Warriors squandered a 2-0 match lead but still emerged on top after a hard-fought, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-11, win against the Power Smashers Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Pablo hammered three points in Pocari Sweat’s telling 7-2 closing run that highlighted its third win in as many outings.

“Ang ganda ng simula namin. Ang ganda ng communication namin, ang pattern defense namin. Yung palo, drop ball nakukuha namin. Pero pagdating ng third and fourth set nagbago,” said Pocari Sweat coach Rico De Guzman.

“Sinabi ko sa kanila, ‘Hanggang 15 lang (ang fifth set) so kailangan lang ibalik (ang nilaro) natin sa first and second set. Basahin ninyo ang ginagawa ng kalaban,’” he added.

The National University standout finished with 30 points, all coming off attacks, while Jeanette Panaga scored 15 points she collected from 11 spikes, two kill block and a pair of aces for the Lady Warriors.
